L. Beebee, Captain Escher, arrived last night from Newcastle, coal laden. The W. L. Beebee left here August 25th, so has made the round trip in. 24 days, beating anything in the sailing line yet recorded between the two ports. Her cargo consists of 466 tons coal. POET OF SUMNER. The Eangitikei passed Deal July 13th, was at Plymouth on the 15fch, and sailed thence with Government immigrants and the following saloon passengers:— E. F. Forster, and Miss Wood. , _ The Orient Line Steam Navigation Company s steamer Cuzco (Murdoch), arrived in Plymouth Sound on July 26th, having made the fastest passage on record between Adelaide and Plymouth. The run from Gibraltar to Plymouth occupied three days sixteen and a half hours. This voyage of the Cuzco—thirty-seven days ten hours, including detentions—is quicker by twenty'four hours than the fastest on record.** Thirty-four passengers and the mails were landed at Plymouth, and the Cuzco proceeded at 12.45 p.m. for On July Ist, the Campbeltown Shipbuilding Company launched from their yard, at Trenchpoint, an iron vessel, built to the order of Messrs Mcllwraith, McEacbarn and Co., London, for their coasting trade in Australia. The vessel measures 120 ft. long, 20ft. 6in. broad, and Bft. 6in. deep, and is adapted to do the part of a tug steamer. She was named the Polly, by Captain Mowatt, superintendent of the company's steamers. After being launched she was taken in tow by the tug steamer Flying Tempest to the Clyde, for her engines to be fitted in. She subsequently sailed from Glasgow for Rockhampton (Queensland), and put back to Greenock July 31st, reported leaky. The tonnage loading on the berth nt London, July 31st, for ludia, China, and the Cape of Good Hope, amounted to 47,475 tons, and for Australia and New Zealand to 57,919 tons. London, August 1. There is no marked change to report, outward rates from Loudon and the coal ports to the East and the colonies remaining as previously quoted. Business very quiet. Homeward freights from the East continue dull, showing as yet no signs of an upward tendency, and the prospects are anything but encouraging.
