SPECIAL TO THE GLOBE. SYDNEY, September 18. THE EXHIBITION. The opening of the Exhibition was, looked at financially, a success. The demonstrations made by flic city at large have not, however, been considered as satisfactory as they might have been, and it has been proposed that another gala day should be hold, when a more complete popular movement might eventuate. Hopes have been expressed in many quarters that the Governor of New Zealand and his family will visit the Exhibition when the affair is in a more complete state of organisation. MOVEABLE CHURCH FOR THE ISLANDS, The moveable Martyrs’ church, which is destined for the island of Erromanga, has been temporarily erected, and a grand dedicatory service has been held in it previous to its shipment by the John Wesley. COLONIAL INDUSTRIES. There is a hot competition between tbo manufacturers of Victoria and Now South Wales with regard to the excellence of their exhibits. [keutee’s telegrams. J SYDNEY, September 18. There were about 24,000 persons' present at the Exhibition yesterday.
