PAY OF RAILWAY EMPLOYES.
SlB, — I find by your report of Saturday night’s meeting that Mr Andrews is made to say that he is not in favor of the Bailway employes being paid for loss of time occasioned through sickness or holidays. It is only about eighteen months ago that Mr Andrews viewed this matter in another light, and said that as Bailway men were required to work overtime during the busy seasons and on many public holidays, for which they received no extra pay, they wore fairly entitled to be paid for loss of time during sickness. Mr Andrews is made to say, also, that he does not think any man should bo paid for time he did not work. That’s right enough, and I can only tell him that if Bailway men were paid for all the hours that they did work they would ask no more, but to be mads to work overtime and not get paid for it, and then to have their pay stopped when sick, seems to me a one-sided arrangement. 1 have something more to say of Mr Andrews, but will reserve it for another letter. Yours, &0., ' Stokbb.
