COMIC OPERA COMPANY.

The popularity of this clever company appears to increase with the length of their stay. Lost evening there was a crowded house, when “ Pinafore” was supplemented by the mirthful musical extravaganza of “ Trial by Jury.” In “Pinofore” Miss Leaf, Mies Heath, and Miss Hunter, ably seconded by Messrs Riocardi, Crain, and Harding were very successful, all the well-known principal airs of the opera receiving the compliment of an encore. The choruses went with precision and spirit throughout, and the ladies and gentlemen of that unobtrusive bnt very necessary body the chorus deserve credit for their efforts to render tho performance a success. In “ Trial by Jnry,’’ Miss Leaf can fairly claim to have achieved another triumph on the part of the fair plaintiff in no way inferior to that won by her in Josephine. By her arch and piquante acting and artistic singing she made tho part a great success. Miss Hunter and the other ladies have but little to do in the piece, except to appear in very tasteful toilettes, which they accomplished moat satisfactorily. Both in singing and acting Mr Riocardi was excellent as the Judge, and his make up too was exceedingly good. _ Mr Harding, as the defendant, sung capitally throughout, and Mr Hodson’s rendering of the part of the Usher was a very fine piece of acting. Altogether the company are to be congratulated on the way in which both pieces were put on the stage and played. The same bill wifi be repeated to-night.
