FOOTBALL.
SECOND EDITION
CHEISTCHUEOH v WELLINGTON.
To-day the third of the series of matches between the football teams that met at Christchurch, took place in Mr Anderson’s paddock. Thera were a large number of spectators. The ground was in excellent condition, and the weather everything that could be desired, Canterbury had strengthened its team to the greatest possible extent in view of a stiff struggle, and tho result was looked forward to with keen interest, tho betting being slightly in favor of our players. Wellington had tho kick-off, and the first spell resulted slightly in favor of the Christchurch men, but no score was made by either side. The game, which was a fast one, was proceeding as we went to press.
