Mails does at tbs Chief Post Offlos tor ths following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under:— SATURDAY, AUGUST 16. For Otago, per Eotorna, at 1 p.m.; late foe letters, 1.45 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.43 p.m. train. Mails per Hawea will close as follows: — For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies. China, Japan, &c., via Sah Francisco, Sandwich Islands, Northern ports of New Zealand. Ordinary letters, at 1 p.m. Late fee letters, at 1.45 p.m. Books and newspapers, at 12 noon. Registered letters, at 12 noon. Money orders at 11 a.m. Guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. This mail will be due in London on September •oth. MONDAY, AUGUST 18. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Lady, bird (to connect with s.s. Eotorna, at Port Chalmers), at 1.50 p.m. j late fee letters, 3.10 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. The next mails for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for correspondence addressed per either of these routes only) will bo closed at Christchurch on August 25th.
