She had fresh S. and S.E. winds across totho Solandors, and made Cape Saunders last Thursday. Was becalmed oil Akaroa Heads on Friday, and had a light southerly wind to making th The brig Emperor, Captain Cleary, arrived vasterclay from Newcastle. Sue left there July -3rd, had light westerly winds for two days, then strong S. and S.E., followed by easterly weather. When 100 miles N.W. of Capo Farewell, last Sunday week, met with a terrific N.E. gale, one of tho most severe within Captain Cleary’s recollection. It lasted for three days, the Capo being passed on Tuesday, the sth current. Had bght variable winds through the Straits, and light S.E. wind oil Cape Campbell, with a heavy southerly swell, thence northerly. The s.s. Jane Douglas left Wellington at 7.10 p.m. on the ?th,fnrrived at Kaikoura at 7.30 a.m. on the 9th, left at 3.30 p.ra. same day, and arrived here at 3.30 a.m. yesterday morning. Experienced lino weather, with light head winds throughout. Tho steamer loaves on the return trip to-day. The s.s. Wanaka, Captain McGKllivray, from Port Chalmers, arrived via Akaroa at 1 p.m. on Saturday, and sailed at night for Wellington, East Coast ports, and Auckland.
