Public Departments £546,127 Liabilities outstanding on 30th June, 1870 200,000 Provincial liabilities 5,000 Total consolidated fund ... 751,127 Public Works Fund—ln continuation of services authorised by the Immigration and Publio Works proposals, 1878— Miscellaneous ... 500,C00 Services not previously authorised— Contingent defence ... ... ... 80,000 Native land purchase 50,000 Immigration ... ... ... ... 50,000 Liabilities under section 16 of the Immigration and Public Works Appropriation Act, 1878 50,000 Cook strait cable 24,000 Beclamation of railway station at Pipitea .... I.COO Branch from Greytown to main line 1,000 Surveys to open up lands before sale 1,000 Waitahuna road 600 Public buildings, post and telegraph offices 3,500 Lunatio asylums ... 2,500 Local bodies contingencies 100 Total £1,514,827 There is also printed a schedule of works to be carried on under the Appropriation Bill of 7th August, 1879, which includes railways in the North and South Islands, surveys of now lines of roads in the North and Middle Islands, waterworks on goldfields, telegraph extension, publio buildings, lighthouse, and miscellaneous works.
