Clematis, brig, 249 tons, Rapp, tor Newcastle, P, Cunningham and Co., agents. A handy little boat, the s.s. Napier, Capt. Fisk, arrived on Tuesday nigbt with a consignment o barley from Blenheim for the Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. The Napier is bat 48 tons register, and was built for the Wellington, Foxton, and Blenheim trade in 1871 by Messrs Nicol, of Auckland. Her engines were made by Mr E. W. Mills. Wellington. She is fitted with a steam winch, and is reputed to he well adapted for the trade carried on by her owners, Messrs Fell Bros, Blenheim. She left Blenheim at 9 p.m. on Monday, crossed the bar with a northerly wind, which continued as far as the Kaikoura, thence southerly, the harbor heiug made at 9 p.m. The Napier sailed for Wellington last night. The Sunbeam arrived at Newcastle July -oth, and the Woodrillo on the 26th. The Gleaner ami the Pioneer arrived at Melbourne hence July 25:h. ~ „ _ _ - The Bulwark sailed from N ewcastlo for here J nly Slat, and the Pleiades July 24th. The Otago, about whoso safety some apprehension was felt at the Mauritius, as reported by the Thurso, arrived at Sydney July 26th. The s.s. Maori will not call at Timaru on her way South, but is to sail direct to Port Chalmers, leaving hero to-day. The Eialto had close upon 1300 tons of gram on hoard yesterday towards her full cargo for London. It is expected she will get away about next M«nday. The representative of Lloyd’s, Mr J. D. Macpherson, has passed the work done to her hull by Mr Grange, the shipamith, his report thereon showing that the new plate put on her has been effected in a workmanlike manner, and the charge therefor very moderate. The damaged part is now under water, and is perfectly tight.
