NEW ZEALAND UNIVERSITY.

The ceremony of presenting tho degrees of B. A., under the ti spices of the New Zealand University, to the students of tho Canterbury College who had gained them at the last examination, viz,, Messrs Frederick Fitchett and James Hay, took place yesterday at the Provincial Council Chamber. There was a large attendance of visitors, mainly ladies. The undergraduates of the Canterbury College occupied the front seat before the dais. On tho dais were the Chancellor of the University (Mr H. J. Tancred), the Primate, Very Rev. the Dean, Bov. Chas. Fraser, Mr J. Inglia (chairman of the Board of Education), the various professors of the College, &e. The Rev. O. Fraser, who had been requested by the Chancellor and Senate of the University to present tho diplomas, presided, and opened the proceedings by requesting tho Registrar of the University (Mr W. M. Maskell) to read the list of those to whom tho diplomas had been granted at the last meeting of the Senate. The Registrar then read the list. Professor Von Haast then presented the candidates, who were duly invested with the hoods of the degree, and also presented with the diplomas. The Rev. C. Fraser having delivered an address, the proceedings terminated.
