The barque Annie Melhnish, from Newcastle, arrived this morning with coals. Captain George Herbert, master of tho schooner Wave of Life, from Picton, reports On Thursday, 21th inst., at 8.30 a.m., Amuri Bluff, hearing N.W. i.'W., distant ten miles, sighted a large piece of timber floating deep in the water, put out the boat and palled to it. On inspection it proved to be the stern-post of a vessel, and from its appearance had not long been adrift; part of the copper still adhered to it, on which the numbers 5 and 6 could be distinguished about twelve feet below tho surface of the water. It was floating right np and down as if some heavy weight was attached to the lower part.
