FOOTBALL.
NORTH V. SOUTH CANTERBURY. TI JARU, July 27. The football match, North versus South Canterbury, played on Saturday afternoon, was a splendid contest, and resulted in a victory for North Canterbury by one goal and a touch down to nothing. Millton kicked off for the North at 3.10 p.m. R. Smith at back ran the ball up, and the first and most interesting scrimmage of the day took place. This showed unmistakably that the Northern team were far the strongest in this department of the game. The South, however, got the ball first, and Craig by a run across the ground gained'some yards. This result followed most of the scrimmages throughout the match.
