CANTERBURY COURSING CLUB.
PRESIDENT’S MEETING. The second day of the meeting opened yesterday with a drizzling rain, which changed to sleet and enow. A start was made from Sheffield about 9 a m., bnt men and dogs were speedily forced to take shelter at Mr T. Atkinson's farm. About ten o’clock another start was made, and the weather from this hour gradually improved. The courses were run over the properties of Messrs. Minchin, Atkinson, and Hight, but the hares were by no means so plentiful ns on Thursday. _ They were, however, remarkably strong, and in several courses fairly ran away from the dogs. _ Everyone was delighted with the splendid coursing ground, which is far superior to that at Oamaru. The coursing commenced by putting Leo and Sweep into the slips to complete the first round for the President’s Cup. The result of the course was another undecided. Subsequently they were put in the slips for the third time, and the victory ultimately fell to Leo. EIKST TIES.
