SELWYN COUNTY COUNCIL.

SECOND EDITION

Tbe monthly meeting of tho Council took place this morning in the now ellloe, Ford’s Buildmgs, Hereford street. The minutes of tho last monthly meeting having been read and confirmed, The Chairman made a somewhat lengthy statement os to the business for that day’s consideration.

A report was then read from Mr Webster, engineer to tho Council, as to the state of the Malvern water race, which had been damaged by the late floods. Ho considered the design was still practicable, and that the undertaking could bo successfully carried out. A long report was also read from Messrs Dobson and Bell, C.E., who had been requested to inspect and report on the matter. Tho latter was referred to Mr Webster to take into consideration, with instructions that he should adopt one of the suggestions contained therein.

Several resolutions on routine matters were :a»aed, and the Council adjourned shortly before two o’clock.
