SPECIAL TO THE GLOBE. SYDNEY, July 24. Parliament is prorogued. Rush undertakes to meet Trickett and Laycock at the International Regatta. No furtkor failures are expected. A goneral rainfall has taken place. SYDNEY, July 23. Rush has sent to England for a hoat. Ho pulls the winner of the August contest. The following heavy failures have occurred :—Gilchrist and Stubbs, tea merchants ; Burnett, soft goodsrnan, for £26,000, Myers Solomons, importers. The liabilities of the last-named firm, aro £75,000, hut their assets aro not stated.
["retjter's telegrams.] MELBOURNE, July 24. THE CABLE. It is expected that the cable will be restored to-day, the repairing steamer having spoken Port Darwin. SYDNEY, July 24. PARLIAMENTARY. The Legislative Council has passed tho Public Works Loan Bill. The prorogation of Parliament takes place to-day.
THE EXHIBITION. It is officially announced that the Exhibition will open in the middle of September.
