SALE OP INSURANCE SHARES. Mr Alport sold by auction yesterday 100 shares in the Colonial Insurance Company. They were knocked down at Is per share. The auctioneer stated that 5s had been paid up on each share, which was equal to is discount. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbodune.— I The ‘‘Argus’’ of July IGfch re- ** Broadstufls have shown less firmness at the auction sales, though in the open market holders have not been affected thereby. Flour is quoted at £ll 10a to £ll 15s, and a parcel of thirty-fire tons waa sold at the latter price, delivered. Under the hammer, however, £ll 5s was accepted. Wheat is firm at 5s 9d, holders in some instances being even disinclined to do business at that price. Publicly, however, 500 bags were disposed of at 5s Bd. In feeding grains, oats are in moderate request at the late range of prices. At auction 3470 bushels Now Zealand were quitted at 3s fid to 3s sd. Good maize is moving off for trade purposes at Ss 4d. Sugars have a very fair trade inquiry, and we note sales privately of yellows at about £3O, of freys at £32, and of whites at £35. At auction 897 ags and 652 pockets Mauritius sorts were disposed of ns follow —white crystals at £35, soft counters at £33105, greys at £32 10s, low yellows at £26 to £27, and rations at £2O to £27. The sale of new season’s teas went off with more heaviness than was anticipated. About 2200 packages were disposed of, at prices ranging from lid to Is lOd, according to quality. Privately sales are reported at Is to Is Hid. Kerosene oil commands a fair amount of attention, and some 2000 cases of diamond oil have been disposed of in good parcels at la lid. Sales of Denis Mounie’s case brandy are mentioned at 23s 6d. Bass’s bulk ale is moving at £8 10s.
