The ship Waimate, for London, was cleared by tho New Zealand Shipping Company thi3 morning, and will sail this afternoon. She takes a number of passengers, a list of whom will be found above. The s.s. Wanaka rnd s.s. Tararna, arrived this morning, the former from South, and the latter from Sydney via Northerm ports. Tho Wanaka will leave for Northern ports at 3.15 p.m., and the Tararaa for Melbourne via South and Hobaxt Town. THE HAWAEDEN CASTLE. This ship, nndor charter to Messrs Shaw, Savill and Co., arrived last night from London, after a passage of 105 days. She is an iron built ship about ten years old, capable of carrying a large cargo. By her has arrived a goodly nninbor of passengers, [the names of whom are given in tho arrival notice above. They all speak highly of the captain (Matthews) and his noble ship. No casualty to any of them occurred daring the TOyage, and mo sickness, but the experience of the crew has been less fortunate, one of their number, Alfred Williams, an able Heaman, having slipped or been washed overboard during a storm ou the night of the 21st June. Tho night was so dark and the gale so fierce it was impossible to save him. Jo other incident of note occurred during the voyage, and the Bhip has ceme into port in excellent order. Her agents are Messrs Edwards, Bennett and Co.
