AVON ROAD BOARD ELECTION.
To-day being tho day appointed for the receipt of nominations of persons aspiring to fill the vacancy on the Aron Road Board, caused by the retirement o£ Mr J. L. Wilson, the returning-officer and clerk to the Road Board were present .at the office at twelve o’clock, for the purpose of receiving any nominations that might offer. There was a moderate attendance of ratepayers. Mr Walter Q-oodlaud proposed Mr Munro to fill the vacancy, remarking that Mr Munro was a tried servant of the people, and had always been remarkable for taking a large hearted view of things, and looking to tho benefit of tho district as a whole.
Seconded by Mr Albert Filpot. Mr James Heard proposed Mr Henry Adams us a candidate.
Mr James Flint seconded the motion.
These were tho only nominations, and a show of hands being taken, resulted as follows—For Mr Munro, 9 ; for Mr Adams, 3. A poll was demanded on behalf of tho latter candidate. The Returning Officer then declared that the poll would lake place to-morrow, between 9 a.m. and Opm.
