The schooner Toroa. Captain Grundy, returned here on Saturday morniug from Oamarn, after a rather long rnn up, owing to a continnanco of northerly winds. The Torea left Oamaru July«>b and fetched Akaroa on Tuesday, July Bth. there from the N.E. gale, and left on Friday last with a N.E. wind, and on Inday night fell in with a S.E. gale, which continued until making the harbor. The Torea was berthed at No. 3 Intermediate Jetty, where she will finish loading *°A report reached port on Saturday that the Janette; ketch, of Lyttelton, had driven ashore in one of the neighboring bays. The master of a vessel who was in at Akaroa on Friday last states that it was so reported there, hnt it was said that the ketch was not damaged in any way. The Janette arrived in harbor last night. The barque Adelaide, with general cargo from London, was berthed at the Gladstone Pier on Saturday in the berth vacated by the Himalaya, the latter vessel taking an outside place alongside the Sonkar. . , „ , , The Falcon, Captain O van, arrived on Saturday morniug from Newcastle, after a fifteen days passage. Strong N.E., and S.E. winds prevailed until making Farewell, thence through the Straits a strong nor’-wester, and on Friday Bight a heavy gale from the S.W. The Falcon has a fall cargo of coal consigned to her agents, Messrs, Eoyse, Stead afternoon tho Union Steamship Com. ■pany’s s.s. Eingarooma returned from Wellington, and loft again tor that port on a special tnp. The steamer did not arrive here until close upon two o’clock in the afternoon, fnlly five honrs later than she was due, a delay resulting from the very severe southerly weather that prevailed during the passage. Mr Jones, the purser, reports the sea outside as being nnusnally heavy, and the southerly wind fully half a gale. Her late arrival, however, resulted in no detention to the passengers here, the agent getting her away sharp at half-past three in the afternoon.
