The Begiatrar-General of Great, Britain has to report that there were but 189,657 marriages in England (including Wales) in the year 1878. We must go back to 1870 to find the year’s number so low. The highest number registered in a year was 205,615 in 1873, and so recently as in 1876 it was 201,874 : but it foil to 194,343 in 1877. and now to 189,657 in 1878.
