It is understood that, aa a result of a recent application, all attempts to obtain the adhesion of the London creditors of the City of Glasgow Bank to a compromise in the shape of payment of 18s in the pound have now been abandoned, and that a further dividend of 6s 8d is likely to be paid about the end of July. Towards the close of the year a fresh payment of la Sd is looked for, making 15s ; but subsequently there may bo a considerable delay in the instalments to avoid a sacrifice of securities. This decision of bill holders here will create no surprise, for Mr Jamieson distinctly stated in the Scotch Court some time ago, when Messrs Brightwen and Co. and others applied for the appointment of a liquidator to represent the London creditors, that the estate could pay in full, and that, consequently, the winding up should be left in the hands of those representing the debtors. The opinion that not less than 20s in the pound should be accepted, with interest at 5 per cent,, was endorsed by the directors of a leading discount company, who specially met to take the subject into consideration.
