SYDNEY EXHIBITION.

Tho usual weakly meeting of this local comniitteo wvi's held a f . 2 80 p.m. Present—Messrs 0. W. Curner, P. Oannmgham, J. A Bird, J. Beaumont, and L, E. Nathan. A letter was road from the Now Zoaland Loan ftnd Mercantile Agency Company, stating that the company would grant free storage for exhibits for the Sydney Exhibition in its Lyttelton stores. It was resolved that exhibits from Canterbury should bo sent direct to Sydney, so long as the fullest information was given so as to be put in the catalogue. The offer of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company was accopted with thanks. The g eoretary said that he had seen a number of intending exhibitors, so as to call their attention to the dosing date. -Mr Nathan wished to bring under the notice of the committee the necessity of their seeing the exhibits sent in prior to their being packed for Sydney. They wore instructed from the central committee that all exhibits should posaess some special merits. Mr Turner pointed out that the exhibitors gent in their applications for space when the committee could sea what articles were being sent. He thought the secretary should com* municato with the exhibitors, asking them to allow of the oomraitteo inspecting their exhibits prior to going to Sydney. It was resolved that the committee appoint a day to inspect the exhibits, and that the secretary make arrangements for the same. The Secretary asked whether the brewers should put brands on their casks and bottles. The opinion of the committee was to the 'effect that the labeb and brands csuld be aTned. ' The secretary was requested to communicate with Mr Puflett, manager of the U.S.S. Company, informing him that the committee proposed sending the exhibits by the Rotorua, and asking that space might be reserved for them. The following additional application for space was received: —Sir. J. 0. Wilson, oil painting of Arab horse "Wanderer. The committee then adjourned.
