The weather is fine though cold. Between three and four hundred spectators where present when operations commenced on the Hon. M. Holmes’ Awamoa estate, shortly after nine o’clock. For some time the hares were not very plentiful. Fro i; c e?v -1 y def eated Doncaster ; Ledgerkeeper received a hollow beating from Hock ; Gill-G : T and Eepp had a fine run, resulting in the defeat of the Christchurch crack. Then followed an exceedingly close run between Catse Tete s,nd Onego ; Gyp, the Southland favorite, was signalarly defeated by Balmoral; Belle had no difficulty in disposing of Brenda.
Results : F.o i; c beat Doncaster
Hock beat Ledgerkeeper Eepp beat Gill-Gill Onego beat Casse Tete Balmoral beat Gyp Belle beat Brenda.
