The Amie Bow, Oceala, and Ethel arrived this morning, having ran from Timaru in the late gale °\h^ d Union Stcamsh'p Company’s s.s. Rotorua, Captain Carey, whoso arrival from Wellington was anxiously looked for last night, put in an appearanoe about half-past ton o’clock yesterday morning. Captain Carey reports the weather experienced as being the most terrible within his recollection. It was generally thought that the steamer, haying left Wellington on Frida}'at 21.30 p.m.. had run into Port Underwood for shelter, but it appears that for the whole forty-five hours she was driving with all her power against tho violent wind and head sea. On leaving Wellington the wind was hard from the S. , continuing so from 8 p.m. of Friday until 8 a.m. on Saturday. The gale reached its culmmating strength about tho latter hour in terrific squalls. The first land sighted was near Big River, eighteen miles to the nor’ard of Kaikonra. This was seen at 5 p.m. on Saturday. As illnatratxng tho headway made during a part of the passage, Captain Carey reports that he sighted Cape ampbell Light at 8 p.m. on Friday, and only lost it at 4 am. Saturday. The light is (visible at a distance of bnt fifteen miles, so that the steamer was eight hours in travelling it. The report of the trip of the steamer from Sydney to Wellington is as follows ;—Cleared Sydney Heads 2 p.m. of <th, arrived at Bay of Islands at 5 a.m. of 12th; reached Auckland at 1 a m. on 13th. sailed on 15th at 5 p.m.; anchored in Tauranga Harbor 10 a.m. of 16th, proceeded at 11 a.m.; anchored in Poverty Bay on 17th, and sailed at 5 p in.; anchored in Hawke s Bar at 8 a.m. of 18th, sailed 2pm.; am veil Wellington noon of 19th, proceeded 20th 2.30 p.m. The Rotorua will loavo this afternoon for Melbourne* via, South and Hobart Town. THE RENFREWSHIRE. The barque Renfrewshire, from Glasgow to Timaru, was signalled this morning early. Captain Wilkie, in command, no doubt doomed it advisable to make for this port, finding it impossible to get into Timaru. The Renfrewshire left Glasgow March 12th, so has been 103 days on the passage. Her passenger list is published in the arrival notice above.
