THE BAOI. I It was quite half an hour after the appointed time when they reached the post, and then some further delay took place) Paul’s Cray, Cyprus, and Blantyre jumping away in a false start, and running nearly a quarter of a mile. When the signal wap given it was not one of Mr M ‘George’s happiest efforts, and behind a few stragglerp could be discerned, Speculation, Red Comyni and Wild Prince, with Launceston several! lengths behind them. Rosy Cross was the first to show in front, but she was immediately joined by Ridotto, the pair going op clear of Censer and Knight of Burghley, with Elfin King at the head of the remainder 1 , for about 200 yards, when they began tp settle into places. Censer then assumed the command, and at a good pace came along) followed by Knight of Burghley, Ridotto', and Elfin King in close company, the next lot comprising King Boris, Attains, Cradle, Rosy Cross, and the Swell, while Red Comyn had rapidly run through his horses, and was now close up with Parole and Blantyre, whp headed the succeeding lot. Then came Wild Prince, Belphccbe, and Speculation, while Cyprus and Launceston made up none of the ground they had lost at the start. As they went past the mile post and through the furzes there was little change, but before reaching the top of the hill, Knight of Burghley headed Censer ou the outside, and was almost clear of Lord Stamford’s horse, who was followed by Elfin King, Ridotto, and Cradle, these being altogether and closely pressed by the Swell, Parole, and Attains, with Rosy Cross, Paul’s Cray, and Blantyre heading the remainder. As they came down the hill Censer retired from the van, and Elfin King at once joined Knight of Burghley, Mr Crawfurd’s horse on the rails showing with a slight advantage _as they entered the straight, Cradle and Ridotto at the same time passing Censer, while Blantyre, Parole, Paul’s Cray, Belphcebe, and King Boris were most prominent of the others, though just before entering the straight Wild Prince joined them. As they came to the road Censer drew up again, and Ridotto, Elfin King, and Knight of Burghley were running almost in a line just clear of Parole, Cradle, and Blantyre, nothing else having a chance of success. Half way up Censer and Knight of Burghley were finally dene with, and Ridotto was quite a length in front of Cradle and Parole, but the latter was going much the best of the three, and heading Cradle less than 200 yards from home he joined Ridotto opposite Tattersall’a enclosure, and having Lord Rosebery’s horse in trouble at once the American won in a canter by a length, Cradle being a bad third; Blantyre was a still worse fourth ; and then came Paul's Cray fifth ; Elfin King sixth ; while Wild Prince, who passed a lot of pulled-up horses, was seventh; Belphcebe finishing eight ; Red Comyn ninth ; King Boris tenth; Cyprus eleventh ; and Censer next; the last lot being the Swell, Knight of Burghley, Rosy Cross, and Speculation, Launceston being the whipper-in.
