Te Whiti and Tahau instructed their people not to shed blood, but to scatter themselves over the land and plough all vacant places, A' messenger is now here from Sir George ■ Grey with a letter, but the purport is un- ' known. The Natives are all obstinate and firmer ■ believers 'in Te Whiti than ever. New houses v are 1 being erected and the settlement has increased considerably. PATEA, June 20. ... .... To Whiti has . predicted that a large host will surround Parihaka, and take him pri- . soner, and that the Maories will not resist; that he will be put to death, but that on. the third day he will rise from the dead, and the pakoha will fall down and worship him, but that the pakeha sinners will be destroyed. Katene says that there is no pah inland of , Parihaka, and Natives themselves say that , Te Whiti is their pah and their stronghold.
