T. B. Taylor, schooner, 51 tons, Smith, for Wanganni. Cuff and Graham, agents. A barque was signalled from tho South yesterday afternoon, showing the letters S H C F, when our dispatch left Port. Over 600 tons of the cargo of the barque Bialto had been landed at, 2 p.m. yesterday. It was then ascertained that the vessel had ceased to make any water, and discharging operations were discontinued. Tho damage is found to extend to threo of her plates instead of two, as first supposed. She was moved from No. 3 to the east side of No. 4 Wharf, where the remainder of hor cargo will be discharged as soon as the Minna Bell, expected to be out to-night, has landed her cargo. The s.s. Wanganni, for Greymonth, via Wellington and way ports, will not sail before tomorrow. Aa the several transporting buoys in the bay are now being subjected to an overhaul by tho Harbor Board's workmen, the opportunity is a favorable one for attaching to each of the buoys a life-saving rope or chain, something that a person could hold to while in the water. In tho event of a boat capsizing near one of them it would serve as a very good life buoy were the improvement suggested made upon it. THE SHIP SOUKAE. This ship was signalled late last evening, but did not reach the harbor until this morning. .She is an old visitor to Canterbury, and on the present voyage sailed from Deal March Ist, with passengers gas per list in arrrival notice above. The Sonkar is one of Messrs Shaw, Savill and Co.'s ships, Messrs Edwards, Bennett and Co., local agents. The voyage has been throughout an extremely fine one, more continuous fine weather being experienced, Captain Croker says, than he has ever known during the many years he has traded to the colonies. On May ,16th the ©tago, bound to Otago, was spoken, and some days after a body was passed floating in the water. It was that of a man, and dressed in a bine jumper. The Otago, on her arrival at Port Chalmers, reported tha loss overboard of a seaman, and it is believed this passed by the Sonkar was the one. One June 10th the sailmaker of the vessel died from natural causes. His name was Louis Corlenr. April 20th a birth of a daughter to Mrs McDermott is reported. The passengers arrive in good health, all speaking highly of the officers of the vessel, and the fineness of tho voyage.
