[By Telegraph. ] TB 'WHITI’S PEOPHBSIE3. NEW PLYMOUTH, June 3. Te Whiti baa prophesied that the Governor would visit the ploughed land, and that no result would follow from his visit ; that all the European families will bo carted from the confiscated lands into New Plymouth by Maoris, after which there will be a great earthquake, which will destroy New Plymouth and its inhabitants. The first part of this prophecy is already fulfilled, for tho Governor did visit the ploughed land yesterday, and no results have followed. Tho Natives of the district are nearly all at Parihaka. VOLUNTEER CORPS FORMING. During yesterday afternoon forty men were enrolled in New Plymouth es mounted Yolunteers and forty-two as ordinary Yoluntoors. Thirty-six men are enrolled at Urenui. THE GOVERNMENT’S PRECAUTIONS, WELLINGTON, June 3. It is understood that the Government are quietly taking the necessary steps to confront and, if possible, avert any difficulty which may arise with the West Coast Natives. The enlistment of Armed Constabulary is going on, and detachments will be sent forward to the various stations where they may bo most needed. Arms and ammunition are also being sent up, and the redoubts put in as good a state of repair as possible. It is stated here that arrangements are being made for bringing a thousand friendly Natives to Taranaki to act as a check upon Te Whiti and his fanatical followers.
