LYTTELTON REGATTA.

The treasurer’s statement of the regatta, held oa the Ist of January last, was submitted at & meeting of subscribers, held yesterday at the Colonists’ Hall. There was a small attendance. Mr H. N. Naldor was voted to the choir, and read the statement, showing a credit balance of £34 Is 3d, and an asset of £2s* value of the cup promised by the representatives of Messrs Shaw, Savill and Co. It was stated that after waiting for five months for the cup the committee had felt it necessary to hand to the winners of the prize, Messrs Cuff and Graham, a cheque for £25 rather than have it said that a prize offered by them and fairly won was not awarded. Some correspondence had passed between the committee and Mr H. Hennah, of Messrs Dalgcty, Nichols and Co., with reference to the delay that had occurred in respect to the cup offered by Messrs Shaw, Savill and Co., ami it appeared to be the sense of the committee that Mr Hennah would make good the value of the cup by sending a cheque for £25. It was said that Mr Hennah had promised to do so. Were this done the surplus at the credit of the Lylteltpn Regatta committee would be £59 Is 3d. The balance-sheet as read was then adopted. Messrs Nalder, Allwright, and Lance were appointed a committee, to hold office until a committee for the next regatta should bo elected by the public. A heartyvote of thanks was passed to Mr J, C, Boddington for his services as hon. treasurer, and acknowledged. Mr Boddington stated that by the time for the next regatta he expected to be away from here, yet he would ever feel an interest in these annual contests at Lyttelton, and would look forward to reading the newspaper reports of the regatta of 1880 with the utmost pleasure. A vote of thanks to the chairman being given, the meeting separated.
