HOTEL ACCOMMODATION IN CHRISTCHURCH,
To the Editor of the Globe, Sib, —It is a fact that ladies can hardly get hotel accommodation in Christchurch, and when they do, it is generally grudgingly accorded, or the charges made so high that they are prohibitive to country ladies with small means obliged to stay in town for a few nights. With a town full of largo comfortable hotels, ladies have to go to second-rate boarding-houses ; and why P because they do not contribute enough to the bar business. Two ladies lately tried nearly every quiet unpretentious-looking hotel in town for beds and breakfast. They were quiet country ladies, who could prove their claim to the title, but they travelled Christchurch in vain. “ Full,” was the very evidently untruthful statement of some ; others said “ they never took ladies.” I think, therefore, the less that is said about the accommodation of these places the better. Yours, &c., TRAVELLER.
