Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations THURSDAY, MAY 22. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, New South Wales, and Queensland, per Rotorua, at 4.45 p.m. Late letter box, guard’s [van, must not ho used for this mail. SATURDAY, MAY 24. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Tararua. Mails per Hawoa will close as follows For the United Kingdom, Continent of Europe, America, West Indies, via San Francisco, Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of Now Zealand, Ao., ordinary letters at 1 p.m.; late fee letters at 1.45 p.m.; registered letters, books and newspapers, at 12 noon; money orders at 11 a.m.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. The English portion of this mail will be duo in Loudon on July Bth, Tho next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for specially addressed letters only), will be closed at Christchurch, on Monday, June 2nd. The mail via Brindisi will he due in London on July 28th, and the mail via Southampton, on August 4th. NOTICE. Monday, May 20th, will bo observed as a Holiday by all departments of the Post-office. Correspondence can ho obtained at the delivery window between the hours of 8 and 9.30 p.m., on Saturday, May 24th, SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
