SYDENHAM LICENSING QUESTION.
To the Editor of the Globe. Sm, —Aletter appears in to-night’s Giobe in reply to mine in last night’s issue, asking me to call upon Mr Smith, who will furnish me with the names of those persons from outside Sydenham who “ farmed the greater part ” of the meeting last Wednesday. Now, I have not the pleasure of knowing Mr Smith, nor did I ever hear of him before; but after what we hear about the abuse and fist-shaking on Saturday afternoon, you don’t catch me calling on anyone who belongs to that party. The statement of your correspondent was publicly made, and must be publicly proved by giving the names to the public, who can then judge for themselves. Let “ Smith ” do this, or else have the manliness to confess himself mistaken. Mind you, sir, there were 200 pert oas present, and be must supply more than 100 names to make good his assertion. Yours, &0,, TRUTH. May 20th, 1879.
