REWI AND HIS PROPOSALS.

[Press Special Wire.] AUCKLAND, May 19. The terms and boundaries of land asked for by Rewi may be thus described :—Commencing at Whaingaroa with the West Coast lino to Puke Aruhe or White Cliffs, and from Whaingaroa to the West bank of the Waipa river, and continuing to Maungatautara,thence to Pahi and to Taupo, including the lands unsold at the back of Taranaki, extending onward to the White Cliffs, and that this land be surveyed and put through the Court and leased, but prohibited from sales. The Natives to have the management of their own lands awarded them by the Court, and that they can make what railroads and roads they please through their lands. This is the proposal the Natives have made to the Q-overn-ment for acceptance, and which will either be accepted or rejected forthwith. Manga attends the Land Court at Cambridge to-morrow, and probably Te Ngakau also. 1 p.m. The present situation is, that Manga and several other chiefs, after discussion, agreed to the following boundaries and names being laid before the Native Minister: —Commencing from Mangawhere through to Orakau, thence to Maungatautara, thence on to the Waikato river, which it crosses and recrosses, and thence to Taupo. The liens advanced over their blocks to be investigated, As to lands disputed between Europeans and Maoris, the boundaries to be settled by Mr Sheehan, and disputes between Natives to be settled by Manga mainly and the other chiefs. Mr Sheehan offers, if a survey of the boundary is wanted, to help them towards the cost of survey. At the meeting, Temata Tamihare stated that these proposals would meet with disfavor from absentees. Manga, Apiha and other chiefs have arranged with Mr Sheehan to commence th& survey of the Mokau lands at once.
