Weiberg, who was implicated in the gold robbery from the mail steamer Avoca, has been captured near the Tarwin river in Gippsland. He surrendered after three shots had been fired at him.
MELBOURNE, May 15.
This soason's yield of wheat for Victoria amounts to 5,750,000 bushels, showing a decrease as compared with 1878 of 1,302,792 bushels, although there has been a substantial increase in the acreage.

The Governor has received telegrams from Sir M. Hicks-Beach stating that it will be impossible for the Prince of Wales to be present at the opening of the Melbourno Exhibition, but he hopes to visit Australia shortly. The schooner Margaret Chessel, from Melbourno, was wrecked on the North Beach, Newcastle. Captain Townsend was drowned, but the crew were saved.
