MEETING OF THE UNEMPLOYED.
SECOND EDITION
At the adjourned meeting of the unemployed this afternoon resolutions were read, calling on the Government to proceed with certain authorised works which had not been commenced, and to cease the present system of pouring in immigrants upon the labour market. His Worship the Mayor addressed the meeting, and said le would see what could be done to ghe the men work by the combined action of the City Council and the Sydenham Borough Council, who might be induced to jointly undertake the formation of the south side of the South Town Belt. His Worship consented to call a public meeting on a requisition being presented to him, and at the close of the proceedings the necessary paper was drawn up and numerously signed by those present.
