THE CANTERBURY LEAGUE AND THE BOROUGH OF SYDENHAM.

To the Editor of the Globe,

Sib,—A letter appears in this morning's " Press" assorting ""that the greater part of those presont at the recent meeting in Sydenham were Good Templars from all the suburbs around Christehurch." I was one of those present, and am prepared to give tho assertion an empla' ic denial. Will the writer of the letter furnish the names of those present who were not residents in Sydenham. Unless he can do this his mere statement is not worth the ink wasted in writing it. I would also ask, who has called the counter-meeting to be held on Wednesday ? There is not a single name on tho bill. Perhaps it is a hoax ; if not it is an insult to the public of Sydenham. Yours, &c, TEUTH.
