MODEL YACHT RACE.

The arrangements for a race to I akc place on the 24th inst. at Port were mode by a number of owners of model yachts at a meeting held at Lyttelton on Mo; day night. The entrance fee was fixed at 5s for each yacht, entries to bo made on the night previous to the day of the race, at Mr J. Bennington’s simp. London street. The matter of prizes was left to be settled on the night of entering. The course to be sailed will be chosen cn the morning of the 24! h, the point of winning to be between a temporary buoy placed near the shore and a flag-pole on the shore, thirty seconds per foot to bo the time allowance to the models competing. Mr White offered to prepare a rough plan of the bay, showing the position of the buoys, and the course will be traced on this upon the morning of the race. Places will be drawn for, No, 1 being entitled to the windward position, the consecutive numbers receiving the positions to leeward in regular succession, a space of sft intervening between each yacht. The sails of the yachts may be trimmed during the race, bub no handling will be permitted in putting them about, an ordinary stick with a hook to be used. The sails are not to be increased or reduced during the race, and those trimming their boats must have their oars laid aside while doing so. It was decided that 12 30 p.m. be the time for the race to start, but this and other matters of regulation will be finally settled at a meeting to be held at 8 p.m., May 23rd~the night for the entries to be made. A general invitation to owners of models to enter them is given, provided the boats are within the maximum length allowed, or sft.
