[reuter’s telegrams.] LONDON, May 8. At the wool sales on tlio 6th and 7th, 18,600 hales were offered. Oross-breds show a slightly improved tendency. Consols, 98|. New Zealand fives, 103. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, in reply to a question, said legislative measures were not contemplated at present to Sefitie whether a member could be a salaried colonial agent Ho promised to confer with the Attorney-General. The Under-Secretary for War, in reply to a question, said a telegram from Lord Chelmsford asked for further reinforcements. The Government awaited further details before steps wero taken. CALCUTTA, May 8. Takoob Khan has arrived at the British camp. He announced his arrival to tho Viceroy with expressions of a wish for the establishment of friendly relations.
