[PRESS AfISNCT. I WANGANUI, May 9. Mr Fox has addressed his constituents. There was a full meeting, and a vote of confidence and thanks was passed unanimously, Mr Fox spoke for two hours, and attacked the members of the Ministry in strong terms. Ho said the Colonial Treasurer was a novice in finances. He described the laud tax as & great blunder, and stated that the receipts for land would fall short by three-quarters of a million. He strongly condemned the action of Sir Q-. Grey and Mr Sheehan in crawling into the Te Eopua meeting and putting the King part on its legs again. He said that they had dragged the Colonial Government through the dirt. No Government was ever insulted as was ours by Te Whiti and Hiroki. Mr Fox condemned the Government for not bringing in a new Native Land Bill, which, when they were in the Opposition, they said was a vital necessity. Then, where was Mr Sheehan’s promise, that the Government would give over purchasing Native land, and leave it to private persons P The Natives considered Mr Sheehan bounceablo and d#ceitful, and looked on him with aversion. Where was the land Rewi was to give the colony, and where the railway through the King country for which Mr Macandrew appropriated a million and a-h&ll ? Everything the late Government was blamed for doing the present Government was guilty of. The Hinemoa was used for private The Government inhumanly refused the Marquis of Normanby the use of that vessel to take away his invalid wife to Australia when he offered to pay the expense. The Hons. Ballance and Stout went pleasuring in her, and insulted the Governor by laying her alongside the trading steamer at Lyttelton when ho was leaving the colony. They occupied without shame the Ministerial residences which they before said should bo sold. He feared so much time has been wasted this recess pleasuring that Government measures would not be ready in time for next session.
