[PEOM OtTE OWN coeeespondent.] ALEXANDRA, May 7. The Te Kopua Meeting. Later news is that the Taupo, Wanganui, and other tribes are dissatisfied with the exclusive demand made by Tawhiao to-day, and will probably secede from him. Neville Walker, whose wife is a near relative of Rewi, arrived here to-day. Talk will probable be resumed at eleven tomorrow. A deputation from the Ngapuhi Chiefs is now closeted with Mr Sheehan. GRAHAMSTOWN, May 8. The County Council are sanguine that every difficulty respecting snagging the Waihoa river, will be settled satisfactorily. A New Industry. The Harbor Board, last night, granted two acres on the Foreshore to Price Bros., for the purpose of commencing iron ship building as a new industry here. Native Affairs. The Thames Natives have refused to accept King Tawhiao's invitation to the Te Kopua meeting, as they were contented to live underthe Queen's rule under existing arrangements. WELLINGTGN, May 8. Mr. Crombie, Hansard reporter, and at present secretary to the Minister of Education, is appointed and will shortly enter upon the duties of deputy-commissioner of land tax for Wellington. Guthrie and Larnach being about to close their premises in Wellington, the schooner Maggie Paterson has been chartered by them to carry their stock to Dunedin.
