MAGISTRATES’ COURTS

LYTTELTON. Saturday, May 3. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) Lunacy. — John Williams, on remand, having been examined by two physicians and declared to be insane, was presented. Sergeant Major O’Grady informed the Court that he had asked two Justices of the Peace to attend, but both had declined. The Bench said it was scandalous that there was no help for it but to remand the man back to gaol. To send him to the place he should bo committed to, two Justices of the Peace were required under the law to be present. The case was remanded until Monday.
