[PER 1 PRESS AGENCY.] WELLINGTON, May 1. The case of Kinross, for perjury, was referred to the R.M. Court this morning, but the magistrate said he would not be able to proceed with it before Tuesday next, and it was accordingly postponed till date. WANGANUI, May 1. A fatal accident has happened to a surveyor named Thomas Mitchell, from Hokitika. While cross-cutting a log in the bush, a few miles from the town, the log rolled over and crushed him to death.

G. W. Worgan’s trial lasted all day. He was sentenced to two years’ hard labor, , gOKtTIKA, May 1. i ■ At the sitting of the District Court to-day, William Stewart, [aged sixty-seven, pleaded guilty to two indictments for breaking into and entering dwellings with intent to commit felony and for simple larceny. He was sentenced to twelve months for each offence, the sentence to run concurrently.
