CITY FOOTPATHS.
To the Editor of the Globe. Sib, —Will you bo kina enough, through tho medium of your paper, to call the attention of the City Council to the cart roadways over tho footpaths remaining unasphalted. The winter is coming on, and those roadways being worn and much lower than the asphalted part of tho paths will form waterpools to the great annoyance of the pedestrians. Last winter some of these gateways were impassable, but during the coming winter they will be ton times worse if something is not done. There are four of these gateways in that short piece of street loading past the Wesleyan Chapel to Cranmer square, so what must bo the quantity throughout the city? Wo who havo paid' our £1 13s fid for our frontages .ought to expect the whole to bo completed,' for without these gateways being comjoloted we might just as well have remained as we were. If you find it convenient to advocate our cause you will confer a great favour on tho public. I am, &0., A Constant Readkb, Christchurch,|April 18,1879.
