SPORTING NOTES.
On Wednesday morning Ray worked before daylight, and Randwick and Ratcatcher sweated. Numa, stripped, went once round steady, and Moose and Eenella a mile and a half, doing the last half mile fast. Chancellor and Laertes, both stripped, went ago id striding gallop once ound. Fishhook went, right-banded, a strong gallop of a mile and a half. Middleton was sweated. Agent did three miles stripped, finishing fast. Undine, and the Idalia colt, did a fast half mile, the latter going very well. York, Adamant, King Quail, and Te Whetu did walking exercise. Fakir and Milo were sent a mile and a half tt a good pace, and Mata went a long sweat, finishing fast. The Horsley Down team, consisting of Maria Antoinette, On Dit, Foul Play, and Nemo, have arrived in town.
Longlands was backed last night to win about .£2OOO, at 100 to 15; Natator, about £2500, at sto 1- Mata was backed to win £SOO, at 6 to 1; Camballo was backed at sto 1.
