Arawata arrived this morning, the former from Sydney, and the latter from Melbourne, Both sail this afternoon, respectively for Wellington and Port Chalmers. The s.s. Cland Hamilton, for Melbourne, via ports of the West Coast, sailed at 1 p.m. to-day. The s.s. Huia arrived last night at seven o clock from Wellington and Kaikotira. She left Wellington on Monday at 7 p.m., and Kaikonra at ■> a.m. yesterday, experiencing flue weather and smooth sea on the passage. She returns to Kaikonra, Wellington, and Foxton this evening. The steamer Star of the South loaves for Greymonth, via Wellington, Nelson, and Westport, tomorrow afternoon. , . . , The s.s. Claud Hamilton, Captain Mmr, arrived yesterday morning from Wellington, the West Coast, and Melbourne. She left Melbourne on March 20th, arrived at Hokitika on the -6th at i a.m., discharged 125 tons of cargo, and left for Greymouth on the 27th at 1 a.m., arriving at ..a.m.; left Greymouth at 1 p.m,, arrived at Nelson on the 28th at 10 a.m., discharged 35 tons of cargo, and left for Wellington on the 29th at 10 a.m., arriving at 8.30 p.m. same day; discharged 180 tons of cargo, and sailed for Lyttelton on the 31st at 5 arriving April Ist. Experienced light variable winds and tine weather during the run across to Hokitika, thence had strong S.W. winds and rainy weather to Nelson, then line weather to arrival. She leaves on the return trip to-day on arrival at Lyttelton of the 12.10 p.m. train The Gael, for Timam, and the Isabella Pratt, for Oamarn, will be dispatched by Messrs Royse, Stead and Co. with cornsacks, ex Bnttermere, The barque Fagerj was taken to the stream yes. terday, and the brig Minora was berthed at Peacock’s Wharf. „ ~ , ... Wellington, April 1. Sailed—Wakatipn, for the South, at 2p m. Passengers—Misses Vallance (2), Miss Dumbell, Mrs Cable, Mrs Barron, Mrs Dumbell, Rev. Dumbell, Messrs Vallence, Taylor, Farnie, Hovoy, Drum, Farmer, Taylor, and Smith. Auckland, April 1. Owing to the non-arrival of the Wellington with the Southern mails until four o’clock, the mail steamer was detained till six o’clock. The outward passengers are—Mrs Keesing, Mr and Mrs Clements, Mr and Mrs Seddons, Messrs Oram, Pritchard, Armstrong, Keesing, Graham, Marion, and Hughes. Sailed—Rotorua, for Sydney. Bluff, April 1. The New Zealand Shipping Co.’s ship Hurnnni sailed to-day for London, with a cargo of 4-165 bales of wool and 1777 bags of wheat, of the value of £90,000. „ . ~, Port Chalmers, April 1. Sailed—Arawata, for the North. Passengers for Lyttelton—Mr and Mrs Williams, Mesdames Clayton, Hector, and Black. Captain Newman took charge of the Arawata in place of Captain Underwood, who leaves, per Tararna, on Thursday for Melbourne.
