In the recent trials of the 80-ton gun, the superiority of the new prismatic perforated powder was fully conceded, and a requisition has been sent to the Q-overnment powder mills at Waltham Abbey for the manufacture and supply of a considerable quantity of the same description for further trials. All the guns recently captured from the Afghans are of Oabul manufacture, and are rifled, firing very accurately up to 2500 yards. A telegraphic cable has been laid between Antibes and Corsica.
