Insect Zoology.—Josh Billings in a zoological moment tells us that the peculiarity of the fly is, that he returns to the same spot; but it is the characteristic of the mosquito that he returns to another spot. Thus ho differs from the leopard, which does not change its spots. A bright young man, on being asked by his sweetheart why the continual fljw of so many rivers into the sea did not fill up the sea and make it run over, replied—" Why, it's the sponges, my deav! " "What have the sponges to do with it? " she asked —to which he responded, " Why the sea is full of sponges, 'way down at the bottom, and they suck up the water—don't you see?" She thought she did.
