MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
oCHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, March 25th, (Before G. C. Lee, Esq., and J. P. Jameson, Esq., J.P’s.] Deunk and Disorderly.—An old offender, with a long list of previous convictions, wa# fined 20s, with the option of forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. Labcbny. George Wright and James Allen were charged with stealing a quantity of wheat, value 18s, the property of the Government. The case on the application of Mr Joynt was adjourned until Thursday the 27th instant. William Allan, alias Belgrave, was charged with the larceny of £7 from the person of John Eldridge. On the application of Mr McConnel the accused was remanded to Friday, the 26th, bail being allowed, two sureties in £IOO each and himself in £2OO. Ahson. —lsidor Schwartz, on remand from the 18th instant, was charged with wilfully setting fire to some goods in certain premises in High street. On the application of Mr Joynt, who appeared on behalf of the accused, a further remand was granted to Thursday the 27th, as the counsel on both sides were engaged in the Supreme Court. Wide Desertion. —Robert Dann, remanded from the 19ih instant, was brought up on a charge of wife desertion, and. remanded for twenty-four hours.
