The fielding of Mr Neilson’s aide in the first innings was not at all up to their usual form a circumstance perhaps attributable in a great measure to their having no one able to take the wicket, Fowler not being able to come up from Titnaru, and Ollivior being unable to play. To the absence of the latter may be attributable to a certain extent the large number of byes. The fielding of the English players was very fine, their return to the wicket being very quick and sure.
