Showing the committee’s present financial position; 2. A detailed list of absolutely necessary expenditure under the head in question. The committee cannot pos ibly carry on the schools with less than therein stated, and if the Board cannot see its way to increase the allowance made since Ist July last, the committee must look to the Board for some suggestion to enable it to make both ends meet. With regard to this I would call your attention to your lettei* of the 4th of November last, which led the committee to believe some plan would be devised to meet the difficulty. The committee have exercised every economy, and the expenditure has sensibly decreased, hut still it cannot he kept within the limits fixed by the Board.
I have, &e., H. C. M. Watson, Chairman. The tables forwarded with the chairman’s letter sho aed the total incidental expenditure from July Ist, 1878, with liabilities actually estimated to March 31st, 1879, to be .£282 6s lOd ; additional liabilities as by accounts rendered, £IOO 13s 2d; making a total of £383 The cash in band amounted to £7 13s 2d. which deducted from the liability of £IOO 13« 2d, leaves a defi iency in nine months of £93. A statement was appended, showing the absolutely necessary expenditure upon incidental in the disinct to be £SOO, inclusive of expenditure in connection with t-'e main infant scho Is and the side schools at Bingsland, bhilipstown, and the South Town belt.
I he matter was fully considered by the Board, and ultimately it was that the question would be considered along with the incidental expenditure of other scho Is, and a final decision come to at the next meeting of the Board. The Board then went into committee, and subsequently adjourned.
